Top Honors for this Top Dog!

Hey...Hey...Hey! Getta look at this will ya! I got an award at the Governor's Conference on Tourism. Seems I'm the Top Dog after all! Yup, here I am getting my award...right on the stage with Cabinet Secretary Michael Cerletti...and of course my bevy of good lookin' gal-women!

Seems I am something special...writin' about travelin' around New Mexico....and my blog and my YouTube videos...and all that good stuff got me an award for the best use of Social Media!

But the really greatest thing about this whole ceremony thing is........drum...er....dog roll......I am THE FIRST DOG EVER TO RECEIVE AN AWARD AT THE NEW MEXICO GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE ON TOURISM!

Not a doggone bad day...in my dog-diary!

Slope Puppy Jack.....Ridin' the Gondola at Ski Apache!

Okay....here we go.....checkin' out Ski Apache. As a very focused travel writer-dog, I also want to ensure that all apparati work properly...want to make sure my pup friends have a good time in their travel adventures as well. ....so here I am riding the gondola up to the top of Ski Apache in Ruidoso.....

And talkin' about the top of the mountain inner-workings of the ride up....and then just chillin' on this great SKI SEATER....made Just For Me ...I'm a thinkin'.

Yup this was one dandy day for this travelin dog! I highly recommend Ski Apache and gondola dog rides to the Top.....NO, let's rate this adventure my famous 5 PAWS RATING!

Back Trackin' Jack! The RRRRs have it! Rest, Recuperate, Ruidoso!

Okay...while Mom's away, guess I'll get to work doin' what I do best....dog-journaling. And I guess we need to dog-gress and backtrack a bit here. Ya know I got all caught up in that surgery stuff, and have been layi'n around recuperatin' and all. And after a few weeks of resting, Jill and I decided to get a little weekend of R&R in.....and what better place to Rest and Recover than in Ruidoso....lovely mountain town that it is.

But as I said, we had an agenda...R&R...so when you're in the adventure mood, the explore mood or even just the RELAX mood....you need to check-in at the lovely...and VERY pet friendly Lodge at Sierra Blanca. Here I am....caught in relax mode... in front of the cozy fireplace in our suite. And as you can see, while there was still snow on the slopes I was just a chillin' in front of the fire! Not a bad gig in this pup's o-pinion!

But hey....you can't just lay around all day...after all, there are potty breaks to be had, so we set out....and here's the TOP TIP of the day.....the Lodge at Sierra Blanca isn't just about cozy rooms. Right behind the lodge...in easy paws reach...is a great walking trail. So potty break time we hit the trail and explored the area...meandering past the golf course (had to watch out for a couple flying little white balls....that I couldn't chase!) through a nice little foresty area...and WOAH!

What did we come across...but a DOG PARK! That's right...a handy-dandy dog park right behind the Lodge at Sierra Blanca. Talk about PET FRIENDLY! Ruidoso has it all, this dog is a-thinkin'. Anyway...and I have to write this in BIG letters.... I DIDN'T get to check out the dog park this time...you know still recuperatin' and all (I have to make sure my doc, Dr. Schwarz at VESCN knows I was bein' good on my little vacation getaway to Ruidoso). But you ken be sure.....this ol' hound dog will be heading back to Ruidoso...soon's I get my all clear from the Doc.

So Ruidoso.....you just wait.....I'll be bark...er.....BACK soon!

Waitin'....just a waitin' and waitin' some more!

Hrmph! Now I've seen it all. And I can't doggone believe my bully eyes! Jill went off on an adventure without me. To some place called Germany. AND....she didn't take me with her! She said something about travelin' in a 'aeroplane'....or something like that....and that I would not like it. Now...really.....since when do I....excuuuse me.....TRAVELIN' JACK....prefer to stay home! Like NEVER!!!!!

But she did. And I've been so dog-pressed that I couldn't even pen my blog to all my trusty dog-followers.

All I can say is SHE BETTER BRING ME HOME SOME TREATS AND SOME DOGGY SOUVENIRS!

In the meantime, I'm gonna practice up my doggy language skills. KAZUNTHEIT! Danke shoen!...or is it doggee shown?

Guess I'll find out when she gets home. But pleeeeeze hurry home, Mom...I miss you so!

Okay....so I got caught in the act. That's what someone....namely Jill....gets for makin' me put up with this silly garb! But I got even in the end......yup...no one's gettin' THIS basket. It's mine....all mine! Jelly beans, plush bunnies and all! So there...take that!

ps I don't like the green jelly beans!

What you say? Whattya talkin' about anyway? Well, here's the scoop...straight from this canine's mouth! I'm going to the Governor's Conference on Tourism...and......drum roll.............I've been named a FINALIST for an award!!!!!! Now ain't that sumpin for this snoop-doggie-dogeroo!

How's that possible you ask? Well, you see...I am the first (and maybe only) canine travel reporter in New Mexico. It's my job to sniff out pet friendly destinations around the state...so's you all can take your 4-legged friend on your adventures with you. And because I'm so doggone
busy travelin' around and reporting my findings on Facebook, YouTube, PeoplePets...and more....I've been nominated for the category of "most effective use of social media". Now ain't that just the dog's meow....er bark.

Anyway, cross your fingers and paws for me. The big day is the 19th of April at Buffalo Thunder Resort. Lucky for me, Buffalo Thunder is one of my favorite getaways...as they are VERY doggone pet friendly! Can't wait.......but don't worry...I'll be sure to keep you informed! I gotta go now...I need to start lookin for a dog-xedo....no plain duds for this pooch...no sirreee!!!!

GULP....BACK to the Doc!

Two weeks after surgery....and I have to go back. I'm just a-prayin' that the doc likes what he sees. No more surgery for this pup...no way!! I'm thinkin' while I'm on my way in....have I followed his orders to the T...or not? HMMMM. Have I been a good boy, stayin' quiet and all? Ya know that is NOT an easy thing for a fancy dancy bulldog!

But really Doc...I dog-promise I've done my best! Puleese believe me!

So they took me in the back...and what did they do? They weighed me again. Ya know, I weighed in at 77 pounds pre-surgery...and they said I need to shed a few of my jiggly pounds. Not easy for this food lovin' bulldog. But YAH....I weighed in at 74 pounds! Doc said I'm doin' good!

AND he gave me the nod for the healing of my incision and my CCL surgery. Says all's good for now.....BUT (and can you believe this!) Six more weeks of rehab....NO running....NO jumping....No climbing stairs. Wow....what's a pup to do any how?

Ah well....guess I'll just resign myself to be a good little bulldog patient. After all, I do want to be 100% again soon, so I can continue down the road on my travels searching out the best pet friendly places to visit in New Mexico.

But for now, think I'll just lay back a bit. I'm exhausted from that visit to the doc. I AM convinced though that I have the BEST dog doc in the whole wide world. Dr. Schwarz is MY personal hero. And all the good folks at VESC they are just doggone FAB!
