Look at Me...I'm A Model Now!

This is the life.....what bulldog wouldn't want to be me? I wander all over New Mexico exploring pet friendly places...I have a TV spot (called Jack's Tracks in case you forgot)...I get awards from the Governor's Conference on Tourism, I'm writin' my own magazine articles....and now I get to be a MODEL too!

Yup...my grand friends at the Doggie Door Company decided they needed a spokesdog for their fancy schmancy pet travel articles...so yours truly will be modeling some dandy doggie articles that NO POOCH should be without!

Today I am modeling the really special "Wacky Walker"....gotta luv the name to start with...and then....woah...what a treat to walk on this leash. It stretches with me! So instead of stopping me tight (and pulling Jill's arm out of her socket), it just gives a bit more room for roamin'....and everyone is happy! You can check it out at the store...OR you can check it out online! Just click on the doggie icon on this page! You'll find all sorts of snazzy dog stuff, I dog-uarantee!

PS Tell em Jack sent ya!

Oh and I almost forgot...we're havin' a party at their store on July 24th.....to celebrate Dogs in addition to ME! And YOU are invited! I'll be modeling some cool doggie stuff...and you can get a paw-digraphed photo of me!

New Mexico's L.A.!

Ha-ha...you are thinkin' you are so smart and you know that L.A. is in California...NOT New Mexico! Isn't that right? Well...guess what..this doggaroo once again has outsmarted you! We DO have our very own L.A. in the Land of Enchantment...and that would be........

a) The Atomic City
b) The City of Discoveries
c) The place where the atomic bomb was born
d) all of the above.....

...and YES, D is the right answer. Yup, this dog knows New Mexico like the back of my paw...and the correcto answer is the one...the only..the Luv-A-Lee LOS ALAMOS!

Tucked high in the mountains, amongst some of the most amazing scenery, but there is more to Los Alamos than just great scenery! How do I know...you ask? Well, this curious pup had to find out for himself...so off we went on our own dog-scovery trip to Los Alamos!

First thing firsts..when you visit a new town....MAYBE just the best thing is to take a city tour! And you can do that in Los Alamos...with the very fabulous Buffalo Tours. They take you in their little yellow tour-mobile...and here's the BEST PET TIP of the week! (drum roll). They accept pets! Yes..that is right. My canine cousins can board the bus right along with Mom & Pop and the Kids...and off we go on a fab-tabulous tour of this town!

We roamed the hills and vales....even caught a glimpse of that mystery bridge that crosses over to the very (shhhhhhh) secretive Los Alamos Labs. Heck...they are so secretive there they wouldn't even let this Dog Reporter inside....but that's OK by me....there is plenty of good stuff to explore in Los Alamos. There are parks and there are self-guided walking tours...and that's just the beginning.

I had one fab day in Los Alamos....and let me tell you...I'm goin' back! For more fun and info...check out the Los Alamos website.

But for now...it's doggie hugs and slurpy kisses to all my FANS in Los Alamos (and other places too!)

SANTA FE-CATION!

Okay, we're checkin' out the happenin' spots in Santa Fe...on a mini-vacation...er santa-fa-cation! DoG-StyLe! So where to start? Well, where else but Canyon Road. Now wait a minute you say, eh? Canyon Road is not for dogs....it's for art lovers.

But that's where you would be wrong! Yup...you heard it here first. Canyon Road is definitely dog-friendly. Why we couldn't get kicked out of the galleries. If they weren't invitin' me in...they were runnin' to get me my own bowl of cool clear water...in a posh water bowl no less.

We meandered from one gallery to the next...and nary a nose in the air at my arrival....nor a "NO DOGS ALLOWED HERE". Why some of that art is worth LOTS of bones in $$$s....and STILL they welcomed me.

And here's another Paws-up nod for Canyon Road......they didn't even know I am famous...and they STILL welcomed me. So what does that mean?

Well, it means you need to head to Canyon Road on your next adventure...and take your Fido...or your Fifi...or your Brutus...or your Chicita right along with you! EVERYONE...four footed and two footed travelers alike will LUV their little SANTA FE-CATION.....I dogarantee!!

sloppy kisses and doggie hugs.

Celebratin today!

YAHOO!!!! This dog is a-celebratin.....because I just got the all clear from my fab surgeon, Dr. Peter Schwarz at VESCNM. My 8 week follow- up to my CCL surgery was today...and now I can run again, jump again, and travel the roads again! And all because of the dog-tastic job my favorite sugeon did on my back leg. So, in case you hear this song bein' sung around your parts...it might just be Travelin' Jack celebratin' dog style.

YIPPEE KI-O-KI YAY!
THIS DOG'S A SINGIN' TODAY...
CAUSE I GOT MY "ALL'S A-OK"
...NOW I'LL BE DANCIN' THE NIGHT AWAY!

Geocaching Canine Explorer

Hey there...this curious pup has taken up a new hobby.....Geocaching. And in case you are a bit behind the times....this great sport for the two footed AND four footed explorer is fun for all! It is the modern day version of a treasure hunt...with your GPS. Here I am exploring Ruidoso's Grindstone Recreation area with the big man himself...Mr. Steve Tally of the Village of Ruidoso. Steve gave me a first-hand..er paw experience. We took a hike through the recreation area....even included a dog-s leap over a gurgling creek and then we got serious a-lookin' for that treasure box. Steve had the coordinates locked into his GPS system, so we followed it to near the mystery site....then we followed the hint (seemed like it was a description of a tree stump). And lo-and-behold! After a bit of diggin.....definitely in my doggie list of FAV things to do...we discovered the official Geocaching treasure box!

Then the fun part. We checked out the goods inside, signed...er pawed...my visit to the site and then I LEFT MY TREASURE for someone else to find and take with them. What might that treasure have been you ask? Well, being the travelin' canine that I am...I never travel without my handy dandy "Kids' Passport to New Mexico". And doggone it....I left it there just so's some other explorer can take me....er my passport....on geocaching adventures elsewhere...like all over the country! I do hope they tell me when they find it and where they take it...that way, I can say my passport has traveled even more than me...the ONE.... the ONLY Travelin' Jack, canine travel reporter!

So...here's your job now! If you are in Ruidoso New Mexico....go find my passport and move it along on a grand adventure. If you are elsewhere...well, doggone it you better hurry on over to the lovely Village of Ruidoso...where all sorts of FAB adventures await!

But gotta go now....gonna check out some more geocaching areas....just luv these fun adventures!

Bigger is Always Better! And the 10 Commandments Too!

but I'm not sure if they meant a bigger head! Yup...it's true. I'm still riding high from my win at the Governor's Conference on tourism. I had to get a whole new wardrobe. Here I am sportin' my "Big is Always Better" Muscle Guy t-shirt, but I have some other favorites that I'll be modeling soon.

This blog, though, is a whole bag of mixed up bones! Thought you might get a charge out of the Doggie's 10 Commandments. My TV Boss and Idol, Richard Holcomb, of Travel Guide New Mexico put me onto this great piece...so here you have it! Enjoy.

A Pet's 10 Commandments

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. But i have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand (all) your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you...and yet I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, perhaps I have been in the sun too long, perhaps my heart is getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.

(author unknown).

So...from me to you....thanks to Richard for sharing this...and thanks to the great people-person who wrote it...and thanks to my Jill for always loving me so much. I do so love my people family!

Have a doggone grand day!
