Yup Pup...that's right..this Yankee Doodle Doggie is celebratin' a birthday today...#4 on the 4TH of JULY!  Along with America...who's celebratin' her Birthday too!

...And I'm one PAWtee Dawg...so this here blog is dog-dedicated to America.....Freedom......Red, White and Blue...and of course this birthday boy---MOI, Travelin' Jack!


Now, I'm thinkin'...there's no doggone better way to celebrate the 4th of July than to be on the set with Nikki Stanzione of "New Mexico Style".  Yesterday, we dog-scussed the important safety things to do for your pet on the 4th of July...starting with NO FIREWORKS FOR FIDO!

So while YOU are celebratin' America's holiday---here are a few of Travelin' Jack's tips:

• Leave your pet at home indoors. Keeping your pets indoors is the safest thing you can do. Fireworks and other loud noises can terrify pets. Pets left outdoors and free-roaming can be frightened by the sound of fireworks, causing them to jump over or burrow under a fence and run frightened through the streets. They can get lost or even hit by a car. Keep windows and doors closed so that they cannot escape out through those areas either.
• Keep Noise level controlled for your pet. Easy things to do for your pet while you are away enjoying a fireworks display include turning on the TV, Radio, Fans and Air Conditioners. Providing sound gives your pet a sense of comfort.
• Consider stress reducing aids like the Thundershirt. The Thundershirt is a miraculous aid for stressful pets.  While the Thundershirt has been used successfully for years with fearful dogs, they have just now introduced a new Thundershirt for the stressful cat too!
  
• Provide your pet with toys & favorite items. Favorite toys, a snuggly blanket....all help Fido feel less alone and ultimately more relaxed.
• Keep pets away from fireworks and dangerous items. Fireworks ingested by pets can be deadly. Other common potentially harmful items include Lighter Fluid, Matches, even glow-lights and glittery costumes can contain harmful ingredients.
• Make sure your pet is ID'd. Always have your pet ID'd, both with name tags and also a permanent chip or a tattoo. Collars can come off.  A permanent ID can help a lost pet be tracked back to the owner.
• Have emergency contact info handy. Keep a list of 24 hour veterinary services. IF an emergency ccurrs....go directly to a Vet. Time can make a big difference.
• Never leave your pets unattended in a car. Even 10 minutes in an enclosed vehicle can be deadly to a pet. Heat rises much more quickly in an enclosed car than outside temps.
• DON'T take your pet to an event where it is not safe for him. Better to leave him at home.
• Hydrate your pet. Carry water and a drinking bowl with you at all times. Dogs need to be kept hydrated in hot temperatures. And DON'T provide or allow beer or alcohol be given to your pet! This is not healthy and it can be dangerous for your pet!
• Plan Non-Fireworks activities with your pets. Finally, there is nothing grander than an old fashioned picnic...and pets love to be included in a backyard BBQ....

 AND if you are lucky enough to have a BIRTHDAY on the 4th....like me, you might just want to have a party at home!  With that barked out loud......I am ready for MY birthday party NOW!

 HERE they are!  These are my little doxie-sister buddies, Winnie and Pinnie.  I told 'em it was OK to bring their pet-parents, John and Michele along for the party too!  (They don't have their drivers' licenses yet!) 

 Now this is doggone cool!  They brought me a present!  WoW!!! Look at all those doggie treats!  Can't wait to try them out!  Thanks Gals! LUV ya!

 FINALLY!  I get to EAT my birthday pup-cake!  YUM! 

DONE!  Now that was one grand birthday party if ya ask this  pup!  But I feel a birthday nap comin' on now....so I'll go rest in my crate while you head out to the fireworks Peeps!

Dog-Dazzled at BlogPaws DAY ONE!

BlogPaws 2012.....Salt Lake City here we come!

Yup...we've hit the road for the annual BlogPaws Conference...where all things Pet happen! We can't wait to see what is gonna be happenin' at this dog-hop of all dog-hops!

                                            

Whoo-Hoo...we're here....drivin' into downtown Salt Lake City ready for the action!

Yup...there it is the grand and beautiful Temple Square!  We have ARRIVED!  Sheraton Hotel is home to BlogPaws 2012...so let's see what we can dog-scover there! 

We arrived JUST in time to catch the Tillman show.  Tillman the Skateboarding Bulldog was here with his Natural Balance team...and bark about 'travelin' in style'!  Tillman...you got it made in the shade!

And this is why!  Check out this skateboarding dog-dude IN ACTION! This is one kool video! 

Make sure to watch it....And Norman the Scooter dog too! Now this is what I call a Double Dog Deal!   

Yep, ALL the Dogs in the Know showed up...there were LOTS of Pup-arazzi everywhere! And people-pet experts galore!  Talk about ACTION!  Now THAT is what I call a dog-dandy start to a pet conference!     

So what's this pup gonna do about all this action? 

 Why...get INTO the action! What else!!!! Here I am posing with Norman the Scooter Dog! They were busy shooting his dog-gorgeous celebrity-ism for the Natural Balance 2013 Calendar....and what was Norman wearing? His pup-patriot outfit of course (dog-guessing it will be the July picture...ya think???)   Anyways...I was just there takin' it all in...wearin' MY patriotic hat and tie of course.!  And then what do you know...but there I am next to Norman........now THAT is one big dog, eh?.....and we're getting our pic taken together! WoW...now that is what I call STAR POWER! Too cool! Thanks Norman for takin' your pic with me! I'm dog-dazzled!

BlogPaws 2012 Here I Come!

                                   YAHOO!!!!  I've got my paw on the pulse of pup action!

Yippee-I-O!  Yabba Dabba Doo-Dawg! WOOF! Yup...this pup is sayin' all these things as we head out for the all-FAB BlogPaws 2012  !  In Salt Lake City this year!  Woo-hoo! 

 Can't help but be dog-cited about Welcome signs like this now can ya?  This is MY idea of dog-spitality!  And I'm there BlogPaws!

It's going to be held at the Sheraton Hotel....hope they recognize this Travelin' Jack star power when I arrive!  I'm NOT carrying any suitcases.....no siree....doggeee!  I know how to travel in style!

 Oh....can't wait to see all my friends from last year's BlogPaws...like Tango the Fire Safety Dog here with his fab person Dayna.....See ya SOON Tango!

 There's a dog-dandy indoor PET PARK at this conference.  Now they have thought of EVERYTHING, haven't they!

Gotta check in with my buds from Royal Canin.....my FAV dining delite..they have special BULLDOG chow.....(I think they made it JUST for ME!....don't tell the other bulldogs though!) 

And NO...it's not just about dogs!  There are cats....and ferrets...and bunnies and all sorts of dog-fabulous pets!  And these animals are all workin' kids!  Bloggers......unite!  We're here to tell our stories!

 Of dog-course NO good conference would be complete without a Trade Show....and let me tell you!  This is one DOG-dandy show.....LOTS of great products......and bark about Give-Aways!  Dog-O-Dog I think I hit the JACKpot!  Can I pupretty please have one of those?  Er...maybe TWO!!!!

Time for PET-Cation! Travel tips straight from the Pet Travel Guru's Bark!

AHHHH....time for pet-cation!  And I AM ready...let me bark you!  Summertime fun....and here's a dog-word to the wise....DON'T LEAVE YOUR PET AT HOME!  WE dawgs love to go on vacation too!  In dog-fact....over 58% of pet owners say they are going to travel with their pet this summer!  YABBA DABBA DOGGIES!  That is music to my ears....seeing that I-Travelin' Jack do so dog-believe in this matter!

5 PET TRAVEL TIPS FROM TRAVELIN' JACK 

1. Research pet friendly lodging in advance. Always RESERVE a pet-friendly room (some properties have limited pet-designated rooms).
2. Travel with your pet safely restrained.  I recommend a dog crate or a harness.
3. Never leave your pet alone in the car OR a hotel room!  There are dog-sitters available everywhere!....or take us with you doggone it!

4. Check out Pet-io dining options!  Many restaurants offer patio dining WITH your pet!  YUM!!!!
5. Plan your itinerary with your pet in mind.  Plan activities....like hikes or venues that include the pet)...or check out Doggie spas and day cares for those non-pet friendly activities.

Makin' A Splash for Tourism!

 Yup...this workin' pup has a RUFF life for sure!  It was my dog-duty to ensure that EVERYTHING went A-O-doggie-K at the 5th annual northern New Mexico Tourism Mixer!  I came pup-prared for STAR power....don't you dog-gree?  It was a Pool-side Pawty after all!

 Of course...NO event THIS dawg attends would be complete without makin' new friends!  Here I got to get some licks in (and hugs too!)  with Lily from Los Alamos!  MWWWAAAAHHH! There's another Jack-Smack for ya sweetie!  Luv Ya! And here's another dog-word of advice.  Los Alamos is a pet friendly place to explore too!

The Poolside PAWTY started off with music...and a few words from my good bud, Christi. Here she is welcoming everyone to Buffalo Thunder Resort's  fabulous poolside setting!

 And a FEW words of wisdom from New Mexico Tourism guru...and my doggone special friend Jordan! He is the King of the fab-tabulous fun contest "GET THE PICTURE".  Check it out to see how YOU can 'get the picture!"  I've already matched OVER 40 of the 100 vintage photos.....this dawg's on the right track.....(HA....had to get one of my bulldog jokes in there ya know!)

I know.....it's hard to get important details into the mix when you are running the road in search of adventure...but doggone it...some dawg's gotta do it!  And I think I do it pretty darn dog-ficiently too!

But ya know....a dog has to have LOTS of support to do the job right!  And I know the BEST when I see it!  Soooooooo.....with that barked out loud, I'd like to give a 4-paws salute to some of my BFFs in the business!  Here goes to my Top Dawg Supporters!

But let's back up a paw-step or two...and go back to my humble beginnings. It all started in 2009 with CliffDweller Productions  and El Presidente, Richard Holcomb!

 Here he is on a TV shoot at the Riverwalk in Bloomfield!  I was sitting watching the MASTER at work....why you ask?  Because this was MY big dog-debut!  Richard thought he saw star-power in this handsome mug o' mine...and said "Let's put Jack in the show!"  That TV show would be the start to my pup-lustrious career with my very own TV segment called "Jack's Tracks"...and that's how it all began!  YUP..the doggone truth!  You can see some of my TV segments on Travel Guide New Mexico.com 

  Now who WOULDN"T love this face.....I might ask!  They say I am very photogenic...whatever the dog-heck that means!  But it's all good!  So from there....I reached my paws for the stars.....and

became the sweetheart of New Mexico Tourism as the Spokes-dogue for Pet Travel!  (my dog-specialty!) and I have been seen on their New Mexico Fan Facebook pages dog-numerous times!  I'm the 1st-DAWG when it comes to their current contest "Get the Picture".  I have 41 of the 100 vintage photos matched.  What about you?  Are you in the contest?  If  not...should be.  Just click on this link for the details of the contest Get the Picture.

...but I dog-gress...as a VID (Very Important Dog) in the New Mexico Tourism industry..it's not unusual to catch me at some fun tourism event or shindig.  From accepting awards at the Governor's Conference on Tourism.....

 in 2010-here accepting my award for my doggone grand work in Pet Travel

  to 2012 where I am a part of the doggone GRAND team...North Central Region Tourism Board...again accepting an award with my fellow pardners.....it's one fun job let me tell ya! 

Course ya have to LOOK serious for the photographer.....and speakin' of photographer...why I would be NUTTIN' without my photos...and these particular snazzy photos were taken by Miss Carolyn of The Photography Studio  who is always at the ready with the camera at all the Tourism events and happenings!  Now SHE knows how to take a photo..don't you dogree?  Yup...these here are some mighty fine photos of me and my friends.  Thanks Miss Carolyn! I highly dog-recommend gettin' a professional photographer to shoot your face and make you bee-u-tiful!

Yup it takes a Dog-Village to make a star...and I have friends far-and-wide who helped this pup rise to the starry skies.  And....of dog-course MANY many more not included here (why it would take me 10 dog-years to name all my friends!) but to each and every one of you (you know who you are!)......from li'l ol' Travelin' Jack.....
