Antique Things and Fall Flings!

Sometimes there are just dog-dandy days....and Fall in the mountains is at the top of that list!

Chama, New Mexico, is tucked at the base of the San Juan Mountains of the Rockies and it is just glorious in the Fall.  The golden leaves of the Aspen and Cottonwood trees scattered amongst the tall stately green pines make for a mighty fine picture...in my humble dog-pinion!
Yep..why it's such a popular time to view the mountain beauty that we get all sorts of great visitors to the Elkhorn Lodge....some are great people guests...and some are even mighty old and fine.......

antiques....like these fab-tabulous old-timey Model A Ford cars.

We were SO excited to have the POCO QUATROS Model A Ford Club come visit us at the Elkhorn Lodge.....to toodle around Chama in classic style....and to even ride on our old timey steam train, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad

It was my job...as head dog-greeter..... to welcome Miss Melba A. the Club Vice President and  Chama Trip Coordinator of this VERY prestigious antique car club here.. BUT of dog-course....I have to step up to get the job done just right!  Pretty doggone cool..this Model A Ford eh?
We didn't have just one antique car...but MANY in this group of old-timey classic cars.

Why there were even some awesome old-fashioned Pick-up Trucks!
                                        WoW....I really dig this one!

Another classic Model A...and another new friend....gotta make sure everyone gets a dog-personal welcome from Travelin' Jack.  Yup....this pUp is UP for the schmoozin'!

And check this out....nary even a recall on these cars...almost a 100 years old and still runnin' strong.  HMMM...wonder why they don't make 'em like this in these fancy-dancy modern times!

                                           Mr. Ford...you dun good!
Okey dokey doggie...I've checked em all out...(and they passed the test for sure!)

...when all of a sudden I see some new friends in the making...................................

But the Sunday daytime is awastin...so it's off to the mountains to check out the Fall Foliage colors.
Are they PEAK yet?  Let's go!

From old Fords to new Fords...this is our brand new fancy dancy Ford Flex!  She's a beauty ain't she?  I'll be toodlin' all over New Mexico in her...so honk if ya see me on the road!  But for now...let's park and check out the mountain colors.
                                                                     Lookin' good!
I better get up here to check out the view....and the colors too...AND you just never know what you might catch a glimpse of  LIKE....................................

                                                   This little deer....ain't she sweet?
Oh...don't run away you deer little thing...I just want to be your friend!
And ain't this a sight for glory days  of fall...Trujillo Meadows and Lake.
All awash in golden hues...and piney greens..... and water blues!
(HEY I think I'm a Dog-poet too!  Think I'll try out next year for Poet Dog-Laureate!)

Yep...now this is what I call the glory days of Fall!  And NO better place than New Mexico to enjoy Fall's beauty.  But now...I'm doggone tuckered out from all this mountain roamin'....it's been a grand day in this pup's life...and I'm ready to head  home for a little R & R....so see ya down the road......

...but here's one tip from this travelin' pooch.....don't waste another day...YOU make tracks to enjoy the beauty of each day.....and YOU keep a sharp eye out for dog-tastic sites all around you!  Oh...and YOU make sure to take Fido with you for the fun times!  Nothin' better than a Sunday afternoon dog-scursion! And NO better place than New Mexico!

Doggie Hugs and Slurpy Kisses!
